Urdu Research and Critical Inquiry Journal
Daryaft is an Urdu research and Critical Inquiry Journal, published by the Department of Urdu, National University of Modern Languages. It is published annually in January. The first issue was published in January 2002 and so far (January 2011) ten issues have been printed. The unpublished research based articles in the context of Urdu language and literature are included in Daryaft. Articles are sent to the experts for judgment and opinion before publication. In 2005 journal was selected in the approved list of HEC journals. From 2011, it is registered in MLA directory of periodicals and some other international database agencies like Ulrich, EBSCO etc.
The aim and goal of Daryaft is to promote quality research in Urdu language and literature. The major features of Daryaft are unpublished research works about Urdu classical text, manuscripts and artifacts as well as the modern critical thoughts and ideas, issues of language, linguistics and quality research of poetry.
The objective of Daryaft is standardization of Urdu research and criticism particularly in Universities. The journal facilitates publication of the Urdu researchers and scholars in universities of Pakistan and abroad, their research projects under the defined procedures and guidelines. Researchers and scholars of Urdu outside universities can also send their research articles. Daryaft strictly follows the rules and regulations set by HEC for journals.
